A fascinating look at the bears of Katmai — Explore.org

Beginning in 2012, Explore has provided the world an intimate look at the Coastal Brown Bears in Katmai National Park and Preserve.  The Coastal Browns are the same species as the inland Grizzlies of Alaska, Canada, and NW United States (Ursus horribilis).    Because of ample food supplies in the Park, Katmai has the largest protected population of Brown/Grizzly bears in the world.   One of the best places to view bears fishing is on the Naknek River at Brook Falls.  This area is only accessible by float plane, so the Bearcams give you an upclose and personal experience.
